why I opted for the 6.5' bed.

Should've loaded it the opposite way with the long end pointing forward.

I was worried about catching low wires by the in laws, this way ensured they’d slip over instead of catching. It worked out okay in the end. The 5.75' was a deal on the lot when I purchased, so I can’t complain too much.
